What Happens at Your First IV Drip?
Your first visit starts with a free 10 minute intro, where a nurse reviews your health history. Then you pick a drip, settle into a lounge chair, and most drips run about 30 to 45 minutes. Once your intro is on file, you can walk in any time we're open for the next three years.
Most people who are curious about IV therapy have the same handful of questions before they book: what happens, how long it takes, and whether the needle part is a big deal. Here is a first visit at our Trussville lounge, start to finish.
Your first visit, step by step.
- 01A free 10 minute intro
A nurse goes over your health history, your medications, and what brought you in. It is a short conversation, not a sales pitch, and it stays on file for three years.
- 02Pick your drip
Come in knowing what you want, or tell the nurse how you feel and talk it through. Every drip on our full drip menu lists every ingredient and dose, so you can read the label before you choose.
- 03The IV goes in
You settle into a lounge chair and the nurse places a small IV, usually in your forearm or hand. It is a quick stick, and most people stop noticing the line within a minute or two.
- 04The drip runs
Most drips take about 30 to 45 minutes. NAD+ and high dose vitamin C run longer, and we tell you that up front. Read, work, scroll or close your eyes.
- 05Add an add-in or a booster
Add-ins go straight into your bag. Boosters are quick injections given during the same visit and take about five minutes.
- 06Back to your day
The nurse removes the line and puts on a small bandage, and you head out. Most people drive themselves. The Benadryl booster is the exception, so bring a driver if you want that one.
Every bag has a label.
We publish every ingredient and every dose, the way a food label does. Here is our Myers' Plus drip, one of the most requested on the menu, so you can see what that looks like.
Pregnant, on medication, or just careful? Show the label to your own doctor before you come in. You, or your doctor, can ask our nurse or doctor anything, any time.
What people usually ask.
Does it hurt? About like a blood draw, and only for a second.
Can I bring someone? Yes. Friends and spouses often book drips side by side.
What if I can't come in? Our mobile nurses bring the same drips to homes, offices and hotels anywhere in the Birmingham area for a $50 travel fee.
Book your intro online, then walk in any time we're open at our Trussville lounge.
