Everything you want to know about IV therapy, weight loss, mobile service, and what to expect at Drip Trussville — in Trussville and the Birmingham area.

The Basics
How IV therapy
actually works.

New to IV therapy? Start here. These are the questions every first-time client asks before their intro.

IV therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and medications directly into your bloodstream through a small catheter placed in your arm. Because it bypasses the digestive system entirely, your body absorbs close to 100% of what's delivered — compared to 20–50% absorption rates typical of oral supplements. Sessions at Drip Trussville last 30–45 minutes and are administered by licensed nurses under physician oversight.
Our standard IV drips range from $95 to $199 depending on the formula. The Electrolyte drip starts at $95 for straightforward hydration. NAD+ starts at $229 for 250mg and $369 for 500mg. Booster shots start at $19. Members receive 25% off all services on every visit. We accept HSA and FSA cards for eligible services.
Yes, when administered by trained medical professionals. Every Drip Trussville session is performed by a licensed registered nurse under the supervision of our physician medical director. We use sterile, single-use equipment and pharmaceutical-grade ingredients. Before your first session, all new clients complete a brief intake to screen for contraindications. Minor side effects — mild bruising or tenderness at the insertion site — are uncommon but possible.
All IVs and injections are placed and administered by certified registered nurses recognized by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Our clinic is led by a licensed physician medical director who oversees all protocols and treatment plans. You will not be treated by unlicensed staff.
Most healthy adults are good candidates. Before your first session, new clients complete a brief intake with our medical team to review health history and rule out contraindications. Certain conditions — kidney disease, congestive heart failure, some medication interactions — may affect eligibility or require physician clearance. Pregnant clients need OB approval before any IV treatment. If you have specific concerns, contact our team before booking.
Your Visit
What to expect
when you arrive.

From your first intro to walking out the door — here's what a Drip Trussville visit looks like from start to finish.

New clients start with a free intro — a brief Zoom call with our medical team to review your health history, discuss your goals, and confirm IV therapy is appropriate for you. Once complete, you're cleared to book any service anytime — and it's valid for 3 full years. Your first drip session itself takes 30–45 minutes. You'll sit in a comfortable lounge chair, and your nurse will check in throughout.
Most IV drips take 30–45 minutes from the time the IV is placed. Booster shots take under 5 minutes. NAD+ sessions are the exception — they run 2–4 hours depending on your dose (250mg or 500mg). Plan your visit accordingly if you're booking NAD+. We have Wi-Fi and phone chargers at every chair.
Walk-ins are welcome during business hours once your intake is complete. Booking ahead guarantees your preferred time — you can book online or call or text us at (601) 885-3747. New clients need to complete a free intro before their first drip — this can often be done same-day.
Eat something light before your session and make sure you're reasonably hydrated going in — this makes IV placement easier and more comfortable. Wear something with easy access to your arm (loose sleeves work well). Bring whatever you want to do during your session — laptop, book, headphones. There's no other special preparation required.
Most people experience no side effects and leave feeling hydrated and refreshed. The most common minor effect is mild bruising or tenderness at the IV site, which typically resolves within a day or two. Occasionally people feel a slight cooling sensation in their arm during the infusion — this is normal and passes quickly. Serious adverse reactions are rare in healthy individuals receiving appropriate formulas under medical supervision.
It's more common than you'd think. Our nurses place IVs every day and are skilled at making insertion quick and as comfortable as possible. The catheter is very small — most people say it's less than they expected. If you're anxious, let us know when you arrive and we'll walk you through exactly what to expect before we start.
For most drips and boosters, yes. The exception is Benadryl (diphenhydramine), which causes drowsiness. If you're receiving a Benadryl add-in or booster, please arrange a driver in advance. Your nurse will remind you before your IV starts if this applies to your session.

Questions about what we offer, how to choose the right drip, and what makes IV delivery different from taking supplements orally.

An IV drip delivers a larger volume of fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into a vein over 30–45 minutes — providing hydration alongside nutrient therapy. A booster shot is an intramuscular (IM) injection of a concentrated single nutrient — B12, B6, glutathione, Toradol, etc. — delivered in under 5 minutes. Boosters are faster and more targeted; drips provide broader support and hydration. Many clients combine both in the same visit.
Our drip menu is organized by goal — recovery, immunity, energy, weight loss, skin health, and more. If you're not sure where to start, book a free intro and our team will walk you through the options based on what you're dealing with. You can also browse our Uses of IV Therapy pages for symptom-specific guidance.
It depends on your goals. For general wellness and maintenance, most clients come once or twice a month. For active recovery, immune support during illness, or a specific health goal, weekly sessions are common. Members who come regularly tend to notice the most consistent results. Our team can help you build a cadence that makes sense for your lifestyle and budget.
Yes. Every drip on our menu has a set base formula, but you can add individual ingredients to any session — things like Glutathione, Toradol, Zofran, B12, Vitamin C, and more. View the full list of available add-ins here. Tell your nurse what you're dealing with when you arrive and they'll build the right combination.
The delivery method is the same — a small IV catheter in a vein delivering fluids directly to the bloodstream. The difference is context and purpose. Hospital IVs are used for emergencies, medication delivery, and acute medical care. Our drips are designed for wellness, hydration, recovery, and nutritional support in a relaxed outpatient setting. If you're experiencing a medical emergency, go to the ER. If you want to recover faster, feel better, and support your health proactively — that's what we're here for.
Possibly, but it requires OB clearance first. We offer two drips designed for pregnancy — our Morning Sickness drip for nausea and dehydration, and our Super Mom drip for energy, immune support, and the nutritional demands of pregnancy and new motherhood. Before treating any pregnant client, we require written or verbal confirmation from your OB that IV hydration therapy is approved for your current pregnancy.

What IV therapy costs, how to pay, and whether a membership makes sense for your situation.

Yes, we accept HSA and FSA cards for eligible services. Many of our IV drips and medically relevant booster shots qualify as eligible expenses. If you're unsure whether a specific service qualifies under your plan, check with your HSA/FSA administrator — eligibility varies by provider.

Questions about our mobile concierge service and physician-supervised medical weight loss program.

Yes. Our mobile concierge service sends a licensed registered nurse to your location — home, office, hotel, or event — anywhere in the Birmingham area and North Alabama. Mobile sessions include the same drips and boosters available in the lounge. A $50 travel fee applies. Book online or call or text us at (601) 885-3747.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — a class of medication that mimics a hormone your gut produces after eating, signaling to your brain that you're full. It slows gastric emptying, reduces appetite, and helps regulate blood sugar. It's administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. Under physician supervision at Drip Trussville, Semaglutide is used as part of a medical weight loss program for adults who qualify. Clinical trials show average weight loss of 15% of body weight. Learn more about our weight loss program.
Both are once-weekly injectable medications for medical weight loss, but they work through different mechanisms. Semaglutide targets GLP-1 receptors only — the same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy. Tirzepatide targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors — a dual action that clinical trials show produces greater average weight loss (up to 20% of body weight vs. 15% for Semaglutide). Tirzepatide is generally more potent. The right choice depends on your health history, goals, and how your body responds. Our medical team helps you decide during your intake.
